Do you have parentheses around 'three plus five'?

Is the 'plus six' OUTSIDE the parentheses?

Remember to start with the grouping then start again at the left and check for:

Parentheses (or other groupings)  

Exponents (powers or roots)  

Multiplication or Division  

Addition or Subtraction  

If more than one operation exists on the same level, work from LEFT-TO-RIGHT

EXAMPLE:

24 - 6(2 + 1) + 8 = 24 - 6(3) + 8 24 - 18 + 8 6 + 8 14
