The Challenge

In 2024, ECOnnect Energy was in a period of high growth. As their projects grew larger and the company expanded, leadership saw an opportunity to strengthen their HR and People function. It was important for ECOnnect to find a partner that could execute HR initiatives, but also play a strategic role in aligning HR closely with business goals. The team decided to bring Amby on board as a strategic and operational partner. While they already had HR policies in place, they wanted to build a more robust and standardized infrastructure that could support employee growth in line with business growth. ECOnnect Energy needed a partner to support this strategic initiative of creating a robust people and culture function.


The Solution

Amby partnered with ECOnnect Energy to act as their internal HR team and help them professionalize, standardize, and scale its People function. The collaboration began with a discovery phase, where Amby conducted a gap analysis of existing policies and systems while working closely with leadership to understand company goals and ambitions. The priorities set were aligned with company goals from the beginning, guiding projects and shaping the roadmap moving forward.

After the discovery phase, the Amby team supported with establishing essentials such as organizational charts, updated employment contracts, an employee handbook, and role descriptions. At this stage, Amby was also part of implementing a centralized HR system to automate and optimize HR workflows. This initiative saved hiring managers and employees hours when dealing with requests, questions and other employee matters.

The second phase of the project was built on this foundation, and focused on getting the HR essentials in place. The team established a Performance Appraisal Processes that was designed to review, evaluate, and track how individual performance supported company goals. As a result of this process, all employees were provided training on feedback and goal management. In addition to this, the team designed and sent out employee engagement surveys to provide leadership with the data needed to assess employee’s motivation and alignment with company goals. Onboarding and offboarding processes were further standardized, and a compensation and benefits framework was created during this phase.

Throughout the collaboration, Amby worked together with ECOnnect to transform the HR function from an administrative function into a strategic one. Amby also organized and hosted manager training, managed performance improvement processes, and supported various organizational change initiatives. Acting as ECOnnect’s HR team while simultaneously building an HR function meant executing initiatives, learning from them, and continuously refining them.

By expanding the HR function and preparing it to scale, Amby helped ECOnnect Energy to unlock the strategic potential of the department. And to secure continuity, Amby recruited and onboarded a dedicated HR Business Partner to carry the work forward. Alongside this, they supported EConnect Energy with key staffing needs.


The Result

The project concluded in April 2025 after one year of close collaboration. In addition to hiring and onboarding a new HRBP, employee engagement scores rose during the period, reflecting stronger motivation and a clearer sense of purpose among employees. The introduction of an HR software reduced administrative burdens, empowering employees with self-service tools and giving managers more time to focus on leadership. Most importantly, the collaboration strengthened ECOnnect Energy’s culture and mindset while professionalizing their HR function, ensuring that the company is well-positioned for continued growth.
